About True Wellness
Rooted out of the State of Rhode Island, serving clients locally, nationally, and globally.
True Wellness Counseling understands.
We acknowledge how difficult it is to make the decision to come to therapy. Seeking support for emotional or personal challenges is an act of bravery. We realize how stigmatized strong emotions are in our society, and at times we may feel shame for crying. In our practice, we aim to serve as a platform free of judgment that allows you to speak your deepest pain and discomfort. To support you in establishing a channel of communication between your body and your mind.
Mission
Our vision is to develop a non-judgmental, safe space for clients of all ages, backgrounds, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, identity, and all diverse walks of life. Our ultimate goal is for you to leave feeling confident in your future and who you are. Looking forward to meeting you.
Meet Dr. Vilna Tejeda
Dr. Vilna Tejeda is a bilingual, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, author, international/national speaker, and scholar, who specializes in culturally adaptive interventions, mood, and anxiety disorders, oppressive/racial trauma, and academic challenges. She has extensive experience working with teens, college students, women, immigrants, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and medically compromised students. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Tejeda is trained in culturally informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychoanalysis, Restorative Justice, and mindfulness practices. When working with a client with a history of trauma, she utilizes trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT). She spends time working with her clients to explore the root of the problem before deciding which treatment modality will be most effective.
Dr. Tejeda reminds her clients that they are in charge of their identity and narrative and can dictate their own future. She helps her clients look towards the future and remember that there is a world outside of school and work. This includes developing plans and envisioning what they want their life to look like.
